This weekend’s sleep tip is for both adults and children!?
In today’s day and age, technology is a big part of our lives. What many people aren’t really aware of, is how much it affects our quality of sleep!
Our bodies produce a natural sleep hormone called melatonin. TV, cell phones or any device that emits light (especially blue), are all things that very much inhibit the production of melatonin. So in essence, doing these things before bed is stopping the body from doing what it needs to do to fall asleep and stay peacefully asleep.
Sleep experts recommend 1-1.5 hrs free of any light stimulation to effectively allow our bodies to produce this natural hormone, who in turn helps you sleep better.
Sometimes the tiniest leaps make the biggest changes! ? If you’re ready for a better night’s sleep, try this for a week and let me know how it goes! ?Reading, talking to your spouse, or doing something relaxing like working on a pair of slippers for your newest grand baby; are just some alternatives to technology right before bed.
Doing this for our little people is also a great step in the right direction to help them settle down at night in preparation for bed. However it’s unfortunately not the 1 and only thing that needs to happen to avoid bedtime battles. If you’re not sure what other things you can do to stop the anxiety that bedtime creates in your home, let’s chat. Take advantage of my free, no obligation 15 min phone consultation! It gives us a chance to talk about your specific situation and how I can guide you and your family to a peaceful night’s rest!
